Your production line cannot afford to wait for a component to be programmed. btv technologies takes on this step before it becomes a bottleneck: IC, flash, EEPROM and microcontroller programming across a broad range of component families.

The result is programmed components that are ready for the next agreed step in your process. You don't need to run this step in-house, invest in your own equipment, hire additional staff, or build separate processes for it.

Whether it's a single component, a sample phase, a small batch, or high-volume series production: we offer programming as a standalone service. You decide whether to use programming on its own or combine it with sourcing, storage, testing, taping or other component services.

Standard Programming for Your Manufacturing

Standard programming means: your components are programmed, tested and documented according to approved data, parameters and specifications. This turns a component that isn't yet production-ready into one that's prepared for the next step in your process.

IC, Flash, EEPROM and Microcontroller Programming

We program, among others:

  • ICs and programmable semiconductor components
  • Flash memory
  • EEPROMs
  • Microcontrollers
  • Embedded components with customer-specific firmware or configuration

What matters isn't just the component type. What matters is that firmware, parameters, component and order are matched precisely. That's why programming is carried out based on your approved data and specifications.

For Samples, Small Batches and Series Production

A project doesn't always start with a large-scale series. Often it begins with samples, a pilot batch, a short-term production need, or a new data revision. Standard programming at btv technologies can scale along with these requirements.

You don't need to switch providers as quantities change. From the first sample batch to an ongoing series, the programming step stays within one traceable process structure.

This applies in particular to components that are not themselves brought to market as a networked product with digital elements. If your component is instead part of an end product with network connectivity, firmware updates or device identity, it's worth looking at the additional requirements in the next section.

How Your Component Programming Works at btv technologies

Aligning Requirements and Data Revision

At the outset, we clarify component, quantity, data revision, configuration, deadline and handover. This ensures from the start that everyone is working from the same approved data for the same order.

Programming, Testing and Documentation

Components are programmed according to the agreed and approved data. The programming process is tested and documented to the agreed scope.

This creates an audit trail with information such as packaging unit, serial number, firmware version, timestamp and operator. Traceability extends down to the individual component.

Delivering Components for the Next Step

After programming, components can be handed over directly to your production line, stored, tested, packaged, or processed further with additional component services.

If btv technologies also carries out further agreed process steps, the link between component, programming, processing and handover is maintained throughout.

Traceability: Verifiability Is Standard at btv technologies

A programmed microcontroller isn't just a physical component. For quality management, technical documentation and later analysis, it also matters which data revision was written to which component, and when.

That's why a complete audit trail is documented for every programming run. Depending on the order and component, this includes:

  • Packaging unit
  • Serial number
  • Firmware version
  • Timestamp
  • Operator
  • Programming result

Traceability applies to standard programming just as it does to btv SEEL®. It isn't an add-on module or an afterthought. It's generated during the process itself and can be provided for quality management, ERP systems, technical documentation and audits.

The practical difference shows up the moment a question arises: the data is already there, instead of having to be pieced together afterwards from different systems, emails or memory.

Standard Programming or Secure Programming with btv SEEL®?

Standard programming and btv SEEL® are built on the same documented btv process logic. Both deliver programmed components, audit trails and traceability down to component level.

The difference is not in traceability. The difference lies exclusively in the additional protection applied to the flash process itself.

When Standard Programming Is the Right Choice

Standard programming is the right solution if you want to program, test and reliably trace components for your production based on approved data.

Typical situations include:

  • Programming components for samples, pilot batches or series production
  • Flash, EEPROM or microcontroller programming to customer specification
  • Short-term production needs with express turnaround
  • Handing over programmed components directly to production
  • Combining programming with testing, taping, repackaging or storage

When btv SEEL® Makes Sense

btv SEEL® makes sense if your component is part of a networked product with digital elements and the flash process itself needs additional protection. This applies to firmware, private keys, certificates, device identities or security-relevant configurations.

With btv SEEL®, firmware and keys are provided exclusively encrypted and processed exclusively in volatile memory. Once programming is complete, an automated, irreversible memory wipe is triggered. Individual key pairs per chip and signature-based authentication further protect the flash process against tampering.

With btv SEEL® UNLIMITED, individual certificates can also be integrated when devices later need to uniquely identify and authenticate themselves on a network – for example, for OTA updates in the field.

This is exactly where the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) becomes relevant. Since September 11, 2026, manufacturers of products with digital elements have been required to report actively exploited vulnerabilities and severe security incidents within fixed deadlines – an early warning within 24 hours and a detailed report within 72 hours. This obligation applies regardless of the full CRA enforcement date in December 2027, and it also covers products that have already been on the market for some time.

A complete audit trail covering firmware version, programming process and component identity – as generated by btv SEEL® – makes exactly this kind of evidence easier to produce when a report becomes necessary.

Programming as Part of Your Supply Chain

Programming doesn't have to be an isolated manufacturing step. It can be integrated directly into your component supply.

btv TAK® accompanies the agreed steps along the supply chain – from sourcing and incoming goods through storage to delivery at the line. This keeps components not only available, but also traceable down to the packaging unit.

Standard programming complements this path shortly before production. While btv TAK® documents the process steps along the supply chain, programming links the individual component to its firmware or data revision.

Component services can also be part of this chain, including testing, authenticity verification, reconditioning, drying and baking, taping, repackaging or assembly. Depending on the project, the agreed steps can be organized into one connected process.

FAQ – Straightforward and to the Point

btv technologies programs ICs, flash memory, EEPROMs, microcontrollers and other programmable semiconductor components across a broad range of component families. Whether your specific component is suitable depends on its specification and your programming requirements – we're happy to check this together.

The standard turnaround is ten working days. For time-critical projects, express programming within 24 hours is possible. This requires a confirmed order, approved data and available capacity.

Yes. Traceability is part of standard programming at btv technologies by default. The audit trail documents – depending on the order and component – information such as packaging unit, serial number, firmware version, timestamp and operator. Traceability extends down to the level of the individual component.

It's not documentation and it's not traceability. Both apply equally to standard programming and btv SEEL® at btv technologies.

btv SEEL® adds exclusively to the protection of the flash process itself: firmware and keys are provided encrypted, processed exclusively in volatile memory, and removed through an automated memory wipe once programming is complete. Additional cryptographic mechanisms protect the process against tampering and unauthorized access.

Yes. Standard programming can be combined with btv TAK®, storage and component services such as testing, taping, repackaging, drying and baking, or reconditioning. Which steps make sense together depends on your project.

btv technologies programs components at its locations in Unna, Germany, and Timișoara, Romania. Both sites are integrated into the same company-wide quality processes and follow the same certification standards.
